FIRST JAPANESE TAKOYAKI STOP IN DUBAI; SPHEERZ

SPHEERZ, GLOBAL VILLAGE; BETWEEN LEBANON & BAHRAIN PAVILLION- DUBAI

Takoyaki (たこ焼き or 蛸焼?) is a ball shaped local Japanese snack speciality made of wheat and flour. It is an example of dining culture in Japan.

The creation of Takoyaki goes back to 1935 and holds a very strong past. This is a very common snack in japan and can be found on almost all the streets, in restaurants, supermarkets and convenience stores.

Takoyaki's hold a part of the Japanese culture. They are usually eaten during celebrations, festivals and in summer, even though they are easily found on the streets.

Takoyaki is traditionally eaten with octopus and Japan is one of the few countries in the world that eat octopus as a part of their culture.

Each piece of the Takoyaki was small (as seen in the picture), so a tray of them is ideal for sharing, which makes it even more Japanese "kyoshoku" (shared dish). Kyoshoku is a way of eating in Japanese culture, a part of Japanese culture is to share every food and eat together.

Takoyaki started off only in Japan but as it started to become more successful it spread out really quick over the world and it finally made it's way down to Dubai! Spheerz is the first and only stop for Japanese Takoyaki in Dubai, which makes it so special. Spheerz is found in Global Village and is a 'must try' place. It served Takoyaki's in all flavors, from traditional, to fusion to modern.

Every bite that I took, took be back and reminded me of the authentic Japanese foods taste. Excellent experience and now I know where to go if I am craving authentic Japanese food.
